Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employers must offer an annual Open Enrollment period. Open enrollment is a window of time that allows eligible employees (and their eligible dependents) who previously waived medical and/or dental coverage to enroll without a waiting period or life event or to make changes to their current medical and/or dental coverage.
Application for enrollment or changes during open enrollment must be done prior to the employer’s healthcare plan renewal date. The next open enrollment period for the Diocese of Raleigh is scheduled to be held May 1 - June 15, 2021, for an effective date of July 1, 2021. Open enrollment is subject to change based on any healthcare plan changes.
The opportunity to enroll immediately with a qualified life event is still available at any time through a Special Enrollment.
