For Cary’s St. Michael Parish, the Thanksgiving Basket Project is as much a part of the holiday as the turkey. Co-chairs Lisa Beck and Julie Healey faced challenges due to the pandemic, but adjusted and led their team to serve families in need. Volunteers safely packaged 350 uniquely decorated boxes. At 35 pounds (which doesn’t include the weight of the frozen turkey each family receives), each box contains holiday favorites, food for an entire week, a rosary and a handmade card. “We like to make sure that everybody understands that what they are getting has been blessed and is shared with love,” Beck says.
