Faculty and staff from across the Diocese of Raleigh's Catholic school system came together on Tuesday, August 4, at 11 a.m. for the annual All Employee Mass, a tradition that brings educators, administrators, and support staff from every diocesan school together in a single celebration of faith and community at the start of the school year.
The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Luis Zarama, who led the gathered assembly in prayer and reflection as employees prepared for the year ahead. The liturgy offered a moment for the diocese's school communities to pause together, set aside the busyness of the classroom, and recommit to the mission of Catholic education.
Music for the Mass was provided by a choir made up entirely of volunteers drawn from the diocese's own faculty and staff, adding a personal touch to the celebration as colleagues from different schools lent their voices in service to the liturgy.
As part of the day's observance, the event also included a food collection benefiting Catholic Charities, giving employees the opportunity to extend the spirit of the Mass into direct service for families in need across the diocese.
At the conclusion of the Mass, Superintendent Marcelo Eureste addressed the assembled faculty and staff, expressing his gratitude to all of the diocese's schools' faculty and staff for their dedication and hard work. Eureste's remarks capped off the celebration on a note of appreciation, recognizing the commitment of employees across the diocese's Catholic schools as they begin another year of forming students in faith and academics.
The All Employee Mass remains one of the key moments each year when the Diocese of Raleigh's Catholic school employees gather as one community, reinforcing the shared mission that unites schools throughout the diocese.
