Families across North Carolina now have expanded access to quality Catholic education through the North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship program, which opened for applications Feb. 2.
The scholarship program, designed to provide financial assistance to families of students entering kindergarten through 12th grade, offers awards ranging from $3,574 to $7,942 based on household income. These funds can be applied directly toward tuition and other required fees at Catholic schools in the Diocese of Raleigh.
"The North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship represents a transformative opportunity for families who dream of providing their children with a Catholic education," said Anna Bragg, who directs marketing and enrollment management for diocesan schools and holds a doctorate in educational leadership. "This program removes financial barriers and allows more students to experience the academic excellence and faith-based values that define our schools."
The scholarship application is currently open, and eligible families are encouraged to apply through the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority portal. The program aims to make Catholic education accessible to a broader range of families who might otherwise find private school tuition prohibitive.
For families considering Catholic education for their children, the Opportunity Scholarship can significantly reduce the financial burden while providing access to schools known for their strong academic programs, character development, and spiritual formation.
