A missionary diocese: Bringing Jesus to where people are

Ver en español

As we celebrate our Centennial year, Bishop Luis Zarama reminds each of us of the “mission” history of our diocese. Even before the diocese was officially formed, priests would travel by horse, train or van across Eastern North Carolina to share the Eucharist and our Catholic faith with the people. Today, Bishop Luis encourages each of us to recall those that came before us and to embrace the “missionary spirit” of the Diocese of Raleigh. Each of us can do our own part – and travel in air-conditioned cars! – to share the love of Jesus and the joy of our Faith.
