A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, Thursday, Nov. 4 at 10:30 a.m. Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama will preside; Monsignor Gerald Lewis will share a homily. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Raphael Church’s columbarium in Raleigh.
For those who are not able to attend the funeral Mass in-person, the liturgy will be live-streamed.
Reception of the Body and a Vigil for the Deceased will be held Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh with visitation following until 8:30 p.m. Monsignor Jeffrey A. Ingham will preside and Father Christopher Koehn will share a homily.

Please join us for this special presentation about Fr. Augustus Tolton. Fr. Tolton was the first Black American priest in the United States. After being refused entry into any seminary in the United States because of his race, he studied for the priesthood in Rome and returned to the US, becoming ordained in 1886.
