Foundation hosts inaugural Father Tighe Memorial Golf Outing

SOUTHERN PINES – The Foundation of the Diocese of Raleigh hosted the first-ever Father Tighe Memorial Golf Outing Monday, May 23 at Longleaf Golf and Family Club.

The fundraising event honored the life of Father Philip Tighe, who was a priest for the Diocese of Raleigh for 20 years before his death in 2020 of cancer. His last priestly assignment was director of vocations for the diocese, and the golf event benefitted the Seminarian Partnership Program.

About 100 golfers, including 11 clergy members, 18 seminarian volunteers and seven priests, participated.

“Our preliminary net proceeds for the event, including donations, is $27,323.45,” said Maureen O’Keefe Lindgren, executive director of The Foundation. “This money will be applied to the Seminarian Partnership Program for fiscal year 2021-2022.”
