This year, National Marriage Week USA is February 7-14; and World Marriage Day, which is commemorated on the second Sunday of February, is February 9.
“In today’s world, relationships are often viewed as disposable. The commitment to fidelity and love that marriage entails is a source of hope for all generations,” said Bishop Robert Barron, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth. “It is an antidote to the loneliness and discouragement of many young people today and deserves our prioritization as a Church and society.”
Each year, National Marriage Week USA and World Marriage Day provide an opportunity for the Catholic Church to focus on and celebrate the vocation to marriage and family life. This year, National Marriage Week USA is celebrated February 7-14, and World Marriage Day, which is commemorated on the second Sunday of February, is celebrated February 9. The Diocese of Raleigh's annual Wedding Anniversary Mass is scheduled for Saturday, February 8. Previously celebrated in October, it was moved to February to align with National Marriage Week. Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama will be the celebrant for the Mass, which gives special recognition to married couples.
The theme for this year’s celebration of National Marriage Week — “Source of Hope, Spring of Renewal. Pursue a Lasting Love!” — emphasizes the virtue of hope that permeates the Jubilee Year 2025.
"National Marriage Week reminds couples that their commitment is a sign and source of hope for the future and a spring of exemplary love that reverberates through generations,” noted Bishop Barron.
Each day of National Marriage Week, digital content will be shared on the USCCB’s social media channels: Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, resources have been prepared by the USCCB and are available for dioceses to utilize, including a flyer/bulletin insert, an at-home marriage retreat, lectio divina for couples, a preaching resource, and social media graphics in English and Spanish. The Diocese of Raleigh's Marriage and Family Life ministry provides access to these and other marriage enrichment resources.
Other USCCB resources that uphold marriage as a lifelong union of one man and one woman that have been created for the faithful may be accessed through dedicated websites: ForYourMarriage.org, PorTuMatrimonio.org, and LoveMeansMore.org.
