Mission
The Office of Property and Construction serves the parishes, missions, schools, and ministries of the Diocese of Raleigh by providing expertise and consultation in matters related to architectural design and construction, facilities, property, real estate, demographics, and planning. The office additionally manages central diocesan facilities, ensuring they remain safe, well-maintained, and fully functional so that the Bishop, priests, and staff can carry out the mission of the Diocese without interruption or distraction from their physical surroundings.
Core Services
The Office of Property and Construction assists parishes through the planning, design, and construction of projects that include the new construction, additions, and renovations of parish and school properties and campus master planning. The Office reviews contracts and consultants, guides parishes through Diocesan approvals, and serves as the Owner’s Diocesan Representative during design and construction for major capital projects.
The Director of Property, Construction, and Risk Management serves as the primary liaison between parishes and the Diocesan Building and Real Estate Commission, the body which reviews and recommends approval to the Bishop for major construction projects, renovations, and commercial land purchases and sales.
Property & Construction staff maintain a routine inspection program of parish facilities to promote proactive maintenance. Staff also provide project contract and risk review and approvals and direct consultative services for smaller facility projects such as re-roofing work.
The Office also advises parishes through real estate evaluations, negotiations, sales, and purchases and oversees the Diocesan Land Trust and long-term real estate planning.
