Bishop announces new clergy assignments, welcomes newly arrived priests

The Most Reverend Luis Rafael Zarama, Bishop of Raleigh, is pleased to convey the following official appointments and announcements regarding priestly ministry in the Diocese of Raleigh:

Effective March 1, 2026

Reverend Ange Masuta Mafuta, C.I.C.M., a member of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, is appointed Parochial Vicar at Saint Eugene Parish in Wendell.

Effective July 16, 2026

Reverend Paul Alger, L.C., a member of the Legionaries of Christ, is appointed temporary administrator of Saint Joseph Parish in Raleigh during the absence of the pastor. Father Alger is currently in residence in the diocese and will assist with ministry until the start date of this new assignment.

Reverend Peter Devereux, L.C., Pastor of Saint Joseph Parish in Raleigh, is granted a sabbatical year.

Announcements

Reverend Douglas May, M.M., a retired member of the Maryknoll Missionaries, in residence at Saint Brendan the Navigator Parish in Shallotte.

Reverend Roy Milton Quiogue, C.I.C.M., a retired member of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in residence at Saint Mary Parish in Goldsboro.
