Human Life and Dignity grant recipients honored

The Office of Evangelization & Discipleship hosted its annual Human Life and Dignity (HLD) Grant Awards Luncheon last week, recognizing recipients of the 2025 awards for their ongoing commitment to upholding the sacredness of human life. The event coincided with Respect Life Month, a nationwide Catholic observance dedicated to cherishing, protecting, and defending human life at all stages, particularly where it is vulnerable or threatened.

Established in 2000, the Respect Life Grants are funded through the Bishop’s Annual Appeal and provide financial support to parish ministries and organizations advancing life-affirming initiatives. As Fr. Michael Burbeck, Vicar General for the Diocese of Raleigh, emphasized during the luncheon, the gathering offers a chance to celebrate "hope-filled agents" making a tangible difference amid challenging news. He noted that the grants not only aid ministry growth but also strengthen ties between parishes, the diocese, and community partners, all centered on Christ’s mission and supporting humanity.
