Position Summary:
St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School is seeking a passionate, faith-filled, and student-centered educator to serve as a Grade 7 English Language Arts Teacher for the upcoming school year.
The ideal candidate will foster a love of reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication while supporting the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of middle school students within a vibrant Catholic school community. We are seeking an educator who inspires curiosity, creativity, and confidence in students while helping them grow in praying, learning, and caring for others.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform professional responsibilities of a teacher, including but not limited to planning lessons and preparing instructional materials based upon the identified Diocese of Raleigh curriculum standards, attending meetings and school functions, serving on faculty committees, communicating with parents and administration, and Teach Grade 7 English Language Arts curriculum, including literature, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and speaking skills
- Create engaging, rigorous, and differentiated lesson plans that support a variety of learners
- Foster strong reading comprehension, analytical thinking, and writing development
- Integrate Catholic values and faith formation into daily instruction and classroom culture
- Maintain a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents, faculty, and administration
- Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate academic records
- Collaborate with middle school faculty and participate fully in school life, activities, and professional development
- Support the mission and philosophy of Catholic education
Minimum Requirements:
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- 3 or more years of related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hold a NC Licensure in Middle School English Language Arts or equivalent from another state.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing
