The Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh comprises 33,088 square miles in the eastern half of the state North Carolina with a population of 5,657,382, of which 510,00 are Catholic. In addition to a growing Hispanic population, the diocese has become home to an increasing number of Catholics from African and Asian countries. The 54 counties which comprise the diocese are divided into eight deaneries with a total of 81 parishes, 13 missions, one station, and four centers for college campus ministry and served by 171 diocesan, religious order and extern priests.
