CASTLE HAYNE, N.C. — Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama visited St. Stanislaus Church Sept. 26 to formally install the parish’s new pastor and bless a recently completed parish hall. The occasion brought together parishioners, clergy and guests for a festive day marked by thanksgiving for the parish’s continued growth and confidence in its future.
Following the installation Mass for Father Steven DiMassimo, parishioners joined a reception in the newly completed parish hall, which Bishop Luis blessed. The celebration featured St. Stanislaus-themed cakes and fellowship, honoring both the parish milestone and its new pastor.
The new Faith Formation and Event Center represents a significant investment in the parish community. The new building is connected to both the church and parish offices through a convenient walkway and includes modern classrooms and gathering spaces designed to support faith formation, parish events and community building. Improvements include new vinyl plank flooring, energy-efficient LED lighting and a welcoming environment intended to serve parishioners of all ages. The project also incorporates environmental and infrastructure enhancements including a stormwater retention pond designed to manage runoff, reduce erosion and improve water quality.
Growth at St. Stanislaus also prompted plans for expanded parking. While the parish previously operated with approximately 110 parking spaces, future improvements are expected to increase capacity to nearly 200 spaces, better accommodating parishioners and visitors.
The new parish hall and expanded parking will be completed just in time for the parish’s upcoming Nov. 7 Polish festival, which is one of the largest annual parish festivals in the Diocese of Raleigh.
The celebration highlighted a vibrant chapter in the life of one of southeastern North Carolina’s historic Catholic communities as parishioners welcomed Father DiMassimo’s leadership and gave thanks for facilities that will support ministry for years to come.
