Our next OCIA Gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd at 11:00am. We are switching from zoom to the Microsoft Teams platform. You do NOT need to download any new software to participate in this online meeting. Please use the link below to sign up to attend.
Topic for 11/3/26:
The OCIA envisions those preparing for initiation are in formation ordinarily for a year (see U.S. National Statute #4, OCIA 76 (for catechumens), and OCIA 402 (for candidates). Prospective inquirers show up at various times of the year interested in exploring the Catholic faith (e.g., November, March) but it is difficult to get them started if the parish is working on a school-year model. Those with marriage cases often find their cases resolved outside times established on parish calendars for the sacraments of initiation and in need of support and assistance while they await the outcome of their petition. All this suggests that moving to a year-round model of formation is warranted. But new issues emerge, for example, personnel to maintain a year-round model and formation resources for ongoing sessions. Our meeting will address these issues.
