Catholics around the world will unite in prayer and solidarity for World Mission Sunday on October 18, the annual celebration dedicated to supporting the Church’s missionary work in some of the world’s poorest and most remote communities.
Observed each October, World Mission Sunday is organized by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, one of the four Pontifical Mission Societies. The day offers Catholics an opportunity to pray for missionaries and contribute financially to evangelization efforts, seminarian formation, religious education, health care and humanitarian outreach in mission dioceses throughout the world.
This year’s theme, “One in Christ, United in Mission,” highlights the shared responsibility of all baptized Catholics to participate in the Church’s mission of proclaiming the Gospel. Funds collected on World Mission Sunday support local churches in mission territories, helping them meet spiritual and material needs while building vibrant Catholic communities.
Parishes across the Diocese of Raleigh are encouraged to participate through prayer, education and the annual collection, joining Catholics worldwide in bringing Christ’s love and hope to people in need.
