Hours per week: 10-12 hours/week (3 days a week 2:30pm - 6:00pm)

Key responsibilities:

  • Accept and actively support the mission of Saint Raphael Catholic School as articulated at the diocesan and school level
  • Model and integrate virtues and values that support schoolwide core values of reverence, service, and leadership
  • Serve as a positive role model for students by fostering a safe, welcoming, and respectful afterschool environment
  • Ensure the welfare and safety of students at all times and respond appropriately to student needs and emergencies
  • Plan, supervise, and participate in engaging activities such as arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and service projects
  • Provide students with a structured environment that supports homework completion when appropriate
  • Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities while maintaining a high level of attentiveness and awareness
  • Build positive relationships with students while encouraging respectful behavior, responsibility, and good decision-making
  • Address minor behavioral concerns with consistency, patience, and professionalism, seeking assistance from the Program Director when appropriate
  • Assist the Program Director with daily logistics, including set-up, dismissal procedures, cleaning, and end-of-day organization
  • Maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with students, families, faculty, and fellow afterschool staff
  • Contribute to a positive Catholic school culture rooted in service, collaboration, and joyful care for children

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate's degree preferred; however, qualified candidates who are at least 18 years of age are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Education, childcare, recreation, camp programs, youth ministry, or related fields.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church is preferred, committed to supporting and upholding the mission and teachings of Catholic education.

  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with children from Kindergarten through Grade 8

  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Dependable, flexible, and professional in carrying out assigned responsibilities

Employment Requirements: Employment is contingent upon the applicant passing a full background check, reference checks, and completing Diocesan Sponsored Safe Environment Training.
