Schedule: Full-Time / Hourly Position working Monday – Friday; 7:30am – 4:00pm with ability to flex hours as needed, including limited weekends.
Position Summary:
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance/Custodial Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the parish and school buildings and grounds. This will at times require working independently and sometimes outside of normal work hours (M-F). The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, painting, minor electrical and lighting repairs, and light carpentry.
- Assist with the upkeep of the Memorial Garden, including pick up and installation of engraved stones.
- Respond to emergency calls from the Parish and School for maintenance and custodial issues.
- Provide other general assistance as needed, e.g., setting up tables and chairs in the facilities, hauling and moving items and equipment, running errands.
- Routinely check outside buildings and grounds for damage, litter, and/or conditions needing attention.
- Identify and report any maintenance issues or concerns to the maintenance supervisor.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor with two-person tasks when needed.
- Maintain all facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
Skills:
- Experience in facilities maintenance, custodial, or commercial cleaning.
- Ability to clean and maintain a variety of surfaces, including floors, walls, and ceilings.
- Familiarity with residential and commercial painting techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks and ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other relevant manuals and instructions
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum level Degree/Education:
- High School Graduate
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
- Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background and reference check; must complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training upon hire.
