Catholic Diocese of Richmond Employment Type Full Time Location Various Locations, VA Posted Date May 12, 2026 Description The Catholic Diocese of Richmond is seeking a Director of Campus Ministry to serve college students in the Roanoke Valley. Colleges served include Roanoke College, Ferrum College, Hollins University, and Virginia Western Community College. Roanoke College is expected to be 50% or more of the roll. Roanoke College is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America with an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students. The Coordinator of Campus Ministry is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of a campus ministry program for the students of Roanoke College. These responsibilities include coordinating Mass, developing student leaders, pastorally responding to student needs, and overseeing student programs and activities. Additionally, the Coordinator oversees financial accounts and serves as the liaison between the local Catholic parish. Requirements / Qualifications: Practicing Catholic in good standing Through knowledge of Church teachings and theology with the ability to relate that knowledge to young adults in a campus ministry setting Familiar with relevant church documents pertaining to ministry and evangelization Knowledge of adolescent and young adult development, spiritual development and application Ability to articulate a clear ministry vision and set appropriate milestones to accomplishing the vision Exceptional people skills Exceptional oral communication skills Ability to work well in a multi-faith and multicultural settings Ability to empathize with others Self-motivated, works easily alone or with others Ability to maintain confidentiality Detail-oriented and highly organized Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in an office setting and at events Ability to interact with faculty and staff at a peer academic level Ability to recognize the unique development needs of University students Ability to work with diverse groups related to student life and health Strong computer and digital communication skills Strong small group facilitation skills Education Required: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required with a master’s degree preferred (in a relevant field). 1-3 years of prior experience in pastoral work, preferably campus ministry, Working Conditions: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), in-person, exempt professional ministry position. Night and weekend work is necessary primarily during the academic year. Regular, weekly schedule will be required. A physical presence on the local campus is required on a weekly basis as well. The position also requires travel to campus ministers’ meetings and other diocesan events, reimbursable through the approved budget. The coordinator will work regularly with the Diocesan Associate Director of the Office for Evangelization, the pastor and staff of parishes local to the universities, faculty, staff and students of the various colleges and universities as well as other Diocesan Campus Ministers.
