Position Summary: Responsible for creating and leading an effective youth program for middle and high school students based on word, worship, and community.  Purposeful engagement in relational ministry with youth and parents, provide catechesis, invite youth to serve others, and make disciples through large entry events and small discipleship groups.  Confirmation is a component of the ministry & is being restructured to meet guidelines of the Diocese and fit the needs of the teens. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Plans youth group activities, service projects, and volunteer opportunities for teens at church, school and in the community.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, training, support, and evaluation of volunteers in the youth ministry program.
  • Meets with and leads the core team in planning and coordinating programs and services.
  • Collects and completes Sacramental paperwork and records Sacraments for 6th-12th graders.
  • Provides individualized sacramental discernment meetings and group proximate preparation for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation for 6th -12th graders.
  • Writes the weekly talk/reflection for youth group and delivers the speech at youth group.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates retreats to aid in the spiritual growth of the students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience required.
  • Active member of a Roman Catholic parish and in good standing in the Church. 
  • Experience in youth ministry and teaching Confirmation. 
  • Knowledgeable about teen culture and issues they face.
  • Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
