Position Summary:

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled and enthusiastic Part-Time Music Teacher to engage and instruct students in grades PreK through 8 in music.  This position is two and a half days per week and plays a vital role in fostering students’ musical development while supporting the Catholic identity and mission of the school. The ideal candidate is skilled in piano accompaniment, enjoys working with children across a wide age range and is committed to integrating music with faith and community.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.
  • Teach foundational music skills including rhythm, melody, vocal technique, music theory and appreciation.
  • Introduce students to a variety of musical styles, with an emphasis on sacred and liturgical music.
  • Direct and rehearse with the school choir in preparation for weekly school Masses.
  • Prepare students for participation in school Masses, prayer service and religious celebrations by selecting and teaching appropriate hymns and liturgical music.
  • Design and lead after school music activities, which may include choir, musical theater, instrumental ensemble or other creative music programs.
  • Organize rehearsals and prepare students for performances such as Advent Program.
  • Create a positive, respectful and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage student participation and confidence in performing arts.
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior and participation.
  • Maintain classroom materials, instruments and music resources.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and school leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and administration to support school-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in occasional staff meetings or school events as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and program updates.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music, Music Education or related field.
  • Proficiency in piano (required)
  • Experience teaching music to children, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiastic, creative and able to engage students of varying ages.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Familiarity with Catholic liturgy and music (preferred)
  • Employment is contingent upon the applicant passing criminal background and reference checks
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.

Position Start Date: August 1, 2026 (for 2026/2027 school year).
