RALEIGH — Approximately 70 people from around the Diocese of Raleigh and beyond participated in evangelization training at St. Joseph Catholic Church March 21. The event, named Get Activated, was sponsored by Regnum Christi North Carolina and led by Patrick Ginty, director of Faith Formation for the diocese.
Participants received instruction, training and equipping during the first portion of the event. They learned and practiced introducing themselves to strangers, presenting the core message of the Gospel, sharing their personal testimony and praying spontaneously with others. Afterward, they participated in a Holy Hour, where they asked for the gifts necessary to share Jesus Christ with those they encounter.
The participants were then sent out in small groups around the city of Raleigh to put their new skills into practice. They came back and finished the day by sharing their testimonies of evangelizing complete strangers and all that the Lord did in these interactions. They shared stories about the presence of God, people in difficult moments, healing and opportunities to invite others to the Church.
Organizers said that the hope for these reenergized and equipped Catholics is for them to bring these skills and this zeal to their daily lives and find ways out in the world to invite others to life in Jesus.
