Position Summary
St. Paul Catholic School in New Bern, NC, is seeking a Middle (Upper) School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to serve as a long-term substitute for the remainder of the current school year, with the opportunity to continue into the next school year. We are looking for a dedicated, faith-filled educator who can provide strong ELA instruction while fostering a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment rooted in Catholic values.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach middle school English Language Arts using effective, standards-based instructional practices
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support student growth in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literature
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate academic records
- Foster a classroom culture of respect, responsibility, and academic excellence
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school administration
- Support the mission and values of Catholic education in daily interactions and classroom practice
- Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and other professional responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field required
- North Carolina English/Language Arts licensure preferred
- Middle school teaching experience preferred
- Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background and reference check; must complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training upon hire.
