High School Theology Teacher

Hours Per Week: 10-20 (Part time)

Key responsibilities:

• Foster a Catholic culture in your work with students, colleagues, administration, and parents.
• Planning and presenting engaging lessons based on the Diocese of Raleigh curricula to facilitate students' understanding and application of high school theology concepts.
• Preparing and distributing learning material such as notes, assignments, and quizzes.
• Sourcing the resources and supplies needed for lessons.
• Maintaining a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning.
• Documenting and reporting on students' progress including grading assignments, quizzes and tests in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the principal and colleagues in planning and facilitating high school activities and events.
• Attending meetings with parents and staff.

Minimum Requirements:

• Employment is contingent upon the applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
• Minimum level of Education: College Degree
• Minimum amount of Work Experience: 1-3 years preferred
• Area of related work experience: High School Theology or Faith Formation teaching experience
• Applicants should hold a North Carolina teaching certificate or equivalent and have experience teaching Catholic Theology or Faith Formation to students in Grades 9-12.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Applicants with prior teaching experience in a Catholic school setting or Faith Formation program are preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to provide a differentiated instructional environment that incorporates a wide range of instructional strategies, including cooperative and project based learning, independent and small group activities with hands-on learning experiences.
