Building Faith, Forming Community: The Heart of Evangelization and Discipleship

The mission of the Office of Evangelization and Discipleship is simple yet profound: to equip Catholic leaders serving in parishes, on campuses and communities for the central task of the Church to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples. This work lies at the heart of the Church’s call to evangelize, to make disciples, and to walk with others in their journey of faith.

As Bishop Luis Zarama affirms, this office serves as the pastoral care team for the diocese, with a special focus on supporting smaller and more rural parishes. Their work goes beyond constructing buildings—it’s about building relationships, strengthening parish life, and nurturing vibrant communities of faith.

Under the leadership of Amy Daniels, the office operates with a spirit of service. Using a consulting model where team members accompany parishes across the diocese, offering hands-on support, strategic planning, and formation tailored to each community’s unique needs. Whether it’s launching small group ministries, renewing catechetical efforts, or offering leadership training, the office equips parish leaders to more effectively share the Gospel.

One of the most urgent efforts underway is a pilot program that aims to reimagine youth evangelization. This initiative goes beyond preparing young people for the sacrament of confirmation. Its deeper goal is to ignite a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ—one that can sustain them through the challenges of life and keep them engaged in the Church for years to come. This work begins with those who lead. When parish leaders and catechists are spiritually formed and supported, they in turn can form others.

To continue this essential mission, we need your support. Your generosity enables us to expand programs, develop resources, and reach every corner of our Diocese. Together, we can form disciples, renew our parishes, and build communities that reflect the love and light of Christ.
