On October 22, the Diocese of Raleigh Office of Safety and Security partnered with St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church to host a Safety and Security Ministry Workshop for all parishes in the Fayetteville Deanery.
The workshop assists parishes with forming, leading, and sustaining a safety and security ministry to serve at Mass. The 2-hour workshop covers topics such as:
- Why should we have a safety & security ministry?
- Where do we begin in forming the ministry?
- Selecting a leadership team
- Emergency planning
- Ministry logistics
- Recruiting
- Training
- Resources
- Common struggles
- Legal considerations
“By hosting the workshop in each deanery, we bring together all parishes within a deanery to encourage information sharing and collaboration,” says Bill Logallo, director of Safety and Security for the Diocese of Raleigh. “We see a range of parishes in the workshop, from those with advanced safety and security ministries to those just beginning their ministry. Bringing these parishes together allows us to share best practices and lessons learned, while providing a great networking opportunity among parishes that are geographically close together.”
The Fayetteville Deanery was the seventh deanery to host this workshop.
