Position Summary:

Saint Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church is seeking a Campus Maintenance Technician. This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager and supports facilities management across the parish campus. This multi-building 19-acre campus includes a church, chapel, parish center, preschool, school, and grounds. Requires general handyman skills in: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, patching and painting, moving, and supply management 

Standard hours Monday through Friday 8:00 AM till 4:00 PM (30 minute lunch) or 4:30 PM (60 minute lunch). 7 ½ hour work days. Standard hours are flexible when needed to accomplish certain repairs or tasks earlier or later in the day. Weekend or after hours work only in emergencies or scheduled. If called in after hours, 3 hours minimum over 3 hours actual hours, time is compensatory time to be used during the same pay period.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for execution of all assigned maintenance requests and emergency issues on campus.
  • Advise the Facilities Manager in planning and purchasing items needed to maintain campus facilities and new projects.
  • Assist with required annual inspections that are performed in compliance with state and local codes. Walkthrough campus with inspectors and take any necessary notes to be turned into the Facilities Manager.
  • With Facilities Manager's direction, ensure all necessary code requirements are tended to and corrected in a timely basis.
  • Assists the Facilities Manager with campus contract services and preventive maintenance with commercial vendors including HVAC, fire system, campus lighting, electrical systems, security system, landscaping, extermination services, roofing, painting, and plumbing.
  • Ensure that roofs, rain gutters and drains are maintained.
  • Perform routine upkeep of baptismal font and outdoor fountain. Cleaning and chemicals.
  • Replace light bulbs and batteries for power supplies, smoke detectors and emergency lighting as necessary.
  • Perform Basic: carpentry including furniture repair, electrical repairs, plumbing repairs, drywall repairs, and painting.
  • Provide emergency “on call” services such as but not limited to responding to fire monitoring company alerts, emergency maintenance needs, and campus security.
  • Seasonal Special Mass Setups: Set up Ignatius Hall for special masses for Christmas and Easter services.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Coverage for Facilities Manager in his/her absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School or GED Diploma (minimum).
  • Three to five years of experience working in commercial facilities management, general handyman business, and/or general contracting.
  • Well organized, self-disciplined with ability to set priorities and complete all assigned work orders with minimal supervision.
  • Language: English, bilingual in Spanish helpful.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Documented Immigrant.
  • NC Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to pass Diocese mandated background checks.
  • Must complete Diocese’s Safe Environment Training within 30 days after hiring.
