Bishop announces additional summer 2024 appointments

The Most Reverend Luis Rafael Zarama, Bishop of Raleigh, is pleased to convey the following official assignments and announcements:  

Effective July 19, 2024

Reverend Clyde Timberlake Meares, returning from sabbatical, is appointed sacramental minister at the Parish of Maria Reina de las Americas in Mount Olive and the Mission of Santa Teresa in Beulaville.

Effective July 31, 2024

Reverend Philip G. Johnson, a priest in good standing of the Diocese of Raleigh, requests and is granted retirement for medical reasons with full faculties to exercise priestly ministry as his health permits.

Effective August 1, 2024

Reverend Daniel Rolczynski, L.C., a member of the Legionaries of Christ, is appointed Assistant Chaplain at the Catholic Campus Ministry at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

Reverend Nicholas Sheehy, L.C., a member of the Legionaries of Christ, is appointed Assistant Chaplain at the Duke Catholic Center in Durham.

Announcements:

Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama expresses his sincere appreciation to the following priests for their generous priestly ministry:

Reverend Andrew LaBudde, L.C., is being reassigned by his community outside of the diocese.

Reverend Pedro M. Muñoz Muñoz, O.F.M. Cap., Parochial Vicar at St. Paul Parish in New Bern, concludes his service in the Diocese of Raleigh and returns to his community, the Capuchin Franciscan Province of the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd, Colombia.

Reverend John Forbes, Reverend Scott McCue, and Reverend Michael Schuetz who have concluded their service as Deans of the Fayetteville, Piedmont, and New Bern Deaneries respectively. The priests of those deaneries will be consulted on the appointment of new deans in the coming month.
