St. Peter football team finishes perfect season as IBAC champs

GREENVILLE—The St. Peter Catholic School football team wrapped up its season Wednesday, Oct. 29, as undefeated IBAC conference champions, finishing with a perfect 7-0 record. Over the course of the season, the Wildcats scored 197 points while allowing only 28.

The team of 26 dedicated young men trained and competed from August 6 through October 29, balancing their athletic commitment with service to their parish and community. Many players also serve as student lectors, altar servers, and volunteers.

St. Peter Catholic School holds a special distinction as the only Diocese of Raleigh Catholic school with a middle school football team.

This season also carried a deeper meaning. In memory of Father Jim Buchholz, who passed away earlier this year, players added a single cross to their helmets. Many of them remember him and his love of the game of football. They started every practice and game with a cheer remembering him. #spcs #HeartsLikeHis
