School celebrates feast day of its patron, Saint John Paul II

On a beautiful day in Southern Pines, St. John Paul II Catholic School celebrated the feast day of their patron, Saint John Paul II. The entire school, including Monsignor John Williams, gathered outside to participate in the annual Living Rosary coordinated by the eighth grade. Under normal circumstances, the event draws a great crowd, but due to Covid-19 restrictions, the students were not able to invite the community.

The Confirmation class of 8th grade students coordinated beads from each class to say a prayer into the microphone using the Luminous Mysteries, and the second grade class of First Communicants acted out the mysteries.

The eighth grade class, along with help from Mrs. D'Argenio, their religion teacher, also made and raised a balloon rosary after the prayers. (The balloons were tethered and lowered, so no wildlife was harmed.)
