RALEIGH, North Carolina — Catholic school leaders from across the Diocese of Raleigh gathered Nov. 18 at Our Lady of Lourdes School's Fallon Center for the biennial Pastor-Administrator Meeting, a day-long gathering focused on strengthening Catholic education through collaborative leadership and renewed commitment to the Church's educational mission.
Superintendent Marcelo Eureste opened the meeting with prayer and welcomed pastors, principals and directors who came together to address critical issues facing Catholic schools in the diocese.
Father Koehn, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh, led a session about rights and responsibilities within the context of mission and Catholic Identity. Afterward, pastors, principals and directors participated in collaborative discussions. This dialogue underscored the importance of maintaining the distinctive Catholic character of diocesan schools while serving diverse student populations.
Dr. John Pendergrass, director of Child and Youth Protection in the diocese, and Bill Logallo, director of the diocesan Office of Safety and Security, addressed student welfare and campus security.
A highlight of the gathering was a luncheon with Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama, who joined school leaders for a time of fellowship and shared his vision for Catholic education in the diocese.
The afternoon sessions turned to practical governance matters, with the Office of Education presenting on school budgets and Gary Rosia, diocesan director of Human Resources, addressing human resources and contract issues — topics essential to the smooth operation of Catholic schools throughout the diocese.
The meeting reflected the diocese's commitment to fostering strong partnerships between pastors and school administrators. By bringing these leaders together, the diocese aims to ensure that its Catholic schools maintain high standards of governance, effective leadership and faithful adherence to their religious mission.
Anna Bragg is the director of Marketing and Enrollment Management for Diocese of Raleigh Catholic Schools.
