Now serving: The Savor Food Truck hits the road

After more than a year of planning, design, and preparation, Catholic Charities is proud to officially launch the Savor Food Truck, a new social enterprise that blends great food with an even greater mission.

Savor brings to life the spirit of Catholic Charities by providing help and creating hope in a fresh and flavorful way. The food truck will serve delicious, crowd-pleasing meals across the Triangle while generating funding to support mobile food pantries that fight hunger throughout Central and Eastern North Carolina.

“Savor is more than a food truck; it’s a vehicle for hope,” said Lisa Perkins, Catholic Charities CEO. “Every meal purchased helps ensure families in our communities have access to the nutritious food they need.”

The Savor Food Truck will begin attending events this fall, including an appearance at the Catholic Charities 12th Annual Gala of Hope After Party on November 8, followed by serving at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary that same weekend. Guests at these events will be among the first to experience Savor in action, bringing flavorful food and meaningful purpose together for the first time.

Along with the generosity of donors, the launch of Savor would not have been possible without the critical partnership with St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and The Franciscan School in Raleigh. This partnership allows Catholic Charities to utilize the kitchen at The Franciscan School for food storage and preparation before Savor heads out to serve the community.

“The partnership with St. Francis and their generosity have helped turn this dream into a reality,” Perkins shared. “We are grateful for their commitment to this initiative to nourish both body and spirit throughout our community.”

Beyond serving meals, the Savor Food Truck stands as an example of innovation in mission, a business with purpose. Profits from every meal sold directly support Catholic Charities mobile food pantry services, while each appearance raises awareness about food insecurity and inspires others to “Savor the Flavor and Share with a Neighbor.”

The Savor Food Truck features a rotating menu of fresh, flavorful items built around the bowl concept. Guests can build their own bowl or choose from chef-crafted combinations, offering something for every taste.

Savor also includes a “Pay It Forward” option, allowing customers to add a tip to their order to make an additional contribution to Catholic Charities mobile food pantries.

Companies and community organizations can now invite Savor to their own events. Whether providing an exciting lunch option for employees, offering a mission-focused meal at a festival, or adding flavor to a special celebration, hosting the truck helps fund the fight against hunger.
