CARY - Mother Teresa Mission, which has been part of St. Michael the Archangel Church, will become a parish effective Jan. 1, 2023. Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama and Luis Capacetti, chancellor for the diocese, shared a decree (PDF) Dec. 13 as the official announcement. The decree also named Father Daniel Oschwald, who has been with the community for seven years, as inaugural pastor.
The bishop shared the news with the Mother Teresa Catholic Church community Dec. 10. during a Mass for the dedication of their new worship space. Like other Catholic communities in the diocese, they built a multipurpose center, where they can hold Mass for the time being, and said they were planning to build a church building in the future.
