Grant to help support Catholic campus ministry

RALEIGH, N.C. — Catholic campus ministry representatives from throughout the diocese gathered Oct. 22 at the Doggett Center at N.C. State for roundtable sharing with colleagues and Father Michael Burbeck, vicar general for the Diocese of Raleigh.

Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama joined the group of about 20 and thanked them for the work they do. He acknowledged the joys and challenges that go along with serving a university community and encouraged the clergy members and lay staff members present to continue to warmly welcome people.

The Diocese of Raleigh recently announced that, through the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, it would be giving a $100,000 grant for campus ministry, which will be disbursed among campus ministry centers at the following universities: UNC Chapel Hill, Elon, Duke, East Carolina, N.C. State University and UNC Wilmington.

Many of the centers serve nearby colleges and universities as well.
