RALEIGH, N.C. — The Foundation of the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh hosted members of the Father Thomas Price Legacy Society on Tuesday, Oct. 21, for Mass and lunch with Bishop Luis Zarama.
The annual event recognizes individuals who have included provisions for a parish, school, Catholic Charities or other diocesan ministries in their estate plans.
During the gathering, Executive Director Dawn M. Stark provided an update on the Foundation’s financial growth. The organization currently oversees 181 endowments with assets totaling $91 million, up from $61 million three years ago.
In the past fiscal year, the Foundation granted $1.7 million to the diocese — a 15% increase — along with $361,000 to parishes and schools and $137,600 to Catholic Charities.
Guests also heard from Monsignor John Wall, who shared stories about the history of Catholicism in North Carolina, including its growth from just 1% of the population to a thriving community. He reflected on his journey to the priesthood and the many places he has served across the diocese.
Individuals who have made estate provisions but were not included in this year’s celebration are encouraged to contact Kelley Karpinski at kelley.karpinski@raldioc.org to be included in the future.
