Bishop visits university students

CHAPEL HILL - Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama visited students and other parishioners at the Newman Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina Jan. 28.

The Sunday afternoon event began with Mass celebrated by the congregation, as well as the bishop, Friar Timothy Kulbicki, O.F.M. Conv., pastor and campus minister, and Deacon Kevin Sullivan, who works with graduate students and young adult outreach at the parish.

“We had a full house for Mass and then 40 students came over to the activity center and spent another hour with Bishop Zarama for a Q&A session,” said Liz Riegel, associate director of campus ministry at the Newman Center. “They had some great questions, and he had some beautiful and thoughtful replies.”
