Bishop urges prayers for peace, protection of civilians amid hostilities

As tensions rise in the Middle East, Bishop Luis Zarama, together with Pope Leo XIV and other Catholic leaders, is following the volatile global events with grave concern and inviting the faithful of eastern North Carolina to unite spiritually with the universal Church in prayers for peace and restored regional stability.

During this time, Bishop Luis reminds us that the Church affirms the duty of nations to pursue security while also insisting that the path toward lasting peace must always safeguard human life and the common good.

“Especially during this sacred season of Lent, we are called to pray for wisdom among political leaders and protection for civilians amid hostilities,” said Bishop Luis. “While we must accept the geopolitical challenges and realities of our world, the Gospel always urges us to seek a path grounded in truth, human dignity, and hope.”
