The Most Reverend Luis Rafael Zarama, Bishop of Raleigh, is pleased to convey the following official appointment and announcements:

June 26, 2023

Reverend Vijaya Babu Katta, Parochial Vicar at Holy Trinity Parish in Williamston, is appointed Pastor of the same.

July 11, 2023

Reverend Clemente Olvera Guerrero, CP, a member of the Passionist Province of Christ the King, Mexico, is appointed Parochial Vicar at Saint Ann Parish in Clayton.

July 29, 2023

Reverend Kenneth Ujunwa Oguzie, C.S.Sp., a member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, Zimbabwean Circumscription, is appointed Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Raleigh.

August 16, 2023

Reverend Brian Vaccaro, C.Ss.R., a member of the Redemptorists, Baltimore Province, is appointed Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Clinton.

Revered Fabio Marin Morales, C.Ss.R., a member of the Redemptorists, Baltimore Province, is appointed Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Newton Grove.

August 19, 2023

Reverend Andrew LaBudde, L.C., a member of the Legionaries of Christ, is assigned as Assistant Chaplain at the Duke Catholic Center for a term of three years.

Announcements

Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama expresses his sincere appreciation to the following priests for their generous priestly ministry:

  • Reverend Chester S. Artysiewicz, GHM, Administrator of Holy Trinity Parish in Williamston and Holy Spirit Parish in Windsor, concludes his service and returns to his community.
  • Reverend Bruce Bavinger, SJ, Parochial Vicar at Saint Raphael Parish in Raleigh, retires from active ministry and has moved to the Murray-Weigel-Kohlmann Jesuit Community in the Bronx.
  • Reverend Nikola Derpich, LC, superior of the local community of the Legionaries of Christ, has been reassigned to the territorial directorate in the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama expresses his sincere appreciation to the following priests for their generous priestly ministry, both of whom are being given new assignments outside of the Diocese of Raleigh by their religious superior:

  • Very Reverend Joseph Dionne, C.Ss.R., Pastor of Immaculate Conception in Clinton, and Dean of the Newton Grove Deanery.
  • Reverend Mark Wise, C.Ss.R., Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Newton Grove.

Additional Announcements

Reverend Boban Madathiparampil, CRM, a member of the Order of Clerics Regular Minor (The Adorno Fathers), will be in residence with sacramental ministry at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Garner.

Reverend Mannes Matous, OP, a member of the St. Joseph Province of the Order of Preachers assigned to graduate studies at Duke University, will be in residence at Holy Family Parish in Hillsborough.

Reverend Luis Palacios, OFM Conv., Parochial Vicar at St. Julia Parish in Siler City, has been recalled by his community.

Reverend Rafael Padron, CRM, previously announced as Parochial Vicar at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Garner, will instead remain in his current assignment outside of the Diocese of Raleigh.

Reverend Steven Reilly, LC, a member of the Legionaries of Christ, has been assigned to the Legionary Community in Durham as the local superior.
