Establishing Communities in Eastern North Carolina: Home Mission

Donate now to Catholic Education

Mission parishes in rural, eastern North Carolina look to the diocese for support as they are launching their ministry from grass roots to vibrancy. The need is vast for areas within our diocese where a minimal Catholic presence is currently in existence. Bishop Luis Zarama has a strong desire to ensure the Eucharist is available in all parts of our diocese. This begins with a vision and a willingness to begin a faithful Catholic community. We currently have 13 active mission parishes. Their need for resources continues to grow and the desire for investment is imperative. This program offers a diocesan grant to assist small parishes with the construction and furnishing of churches and chapels within the Diocese of Raleigh. Special emphasis is placed on building churches and chapels in areas where parishioners are not presently able, because of economic circumstances, to fully fund the construction of sacred worship space in the traditional manner of capital campaigns, loans, and parish savings.
