Voice of the Voiceless: Commemorating Oscar Romero
Duke Divinity School and the Center for Reconciliation with the Fiesta Cristiana congregation in Apex will hold a Concert and Worship Service commemorating the 40th anniversary of Oscar Romero’s martyrdom March 22 at 1:30 p.m. at Apex United Methodist Church in Apex, N.C. Romero, the late Salvadoran archbishop who was shot by an assassin as he celebrated Mass in a hospital chapel in 1980, was canonized as a saint by Pope Francis in 2018.
Several events and worship services are being held in the larger North Carolina community from March 20-26 to commemorate his prophetic ministry as a voice of the voiceless. See the full list of events and worship services.
