Substitute Teacher

Hours per week: Part Time / As-Needed / On-Call / Up to an 8-hour school day, scheduled only as needed

Position summary:

Saint Raphael Catholic School seeks dependable, mission-driven Substitute Teachers to serve on an as-needed, on-call basis. This position is ideal for individuals who are flexible, responsive, and able to step into the classroom with little advance notice to ensure continuity of instruction and a safe, productive learning environment. Substitute Teachers may be contacted same-day or with minimal notice, depending on school needs.

Key responsibilities:

• Support and uphold the mission of Saint Raphael Catholic School as articulated at both the diocesan and school levels
• Implement lesson plans, classroom routines, and procedures left by the lead teacher
• Maintain a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment
• Supervise students and ensure their safety and well-being throughout the school day
• Collaborate respectfully with faculty, staff, and administration
• Serve as a missionary disciple and support the formation of students within our Catholic school community
• Be available on a regular but flexible, as-needed basis, including the ability to respond to last-minute coverage requests

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
• Experience:
  • Prior classroom or educational experience is strongly preferred
  • Candidates without formal teaching experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong classroom management skills, professionalism, and the ability to adapt quickly
• Practicing Catholics with prior teaching or school experience are preferred
• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to manage a classroom independently
• Must be able to report to campus on short notice when contacted
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a full background check
