Position Summary:
Saint Raphael the Archangel Catholic Parish, a vibrant, multicultural, Jesuit parish of over 4,000 families, is seeking a Pastoral Associate for Youth Ministry. This position is responsible for developing and animating the vision, goals, and plan for a comprehensive youth ministry model to serve middle and high school aged youth in the parish community. This person will organize and manage all the logistical, programmatic, and administrative elements of the middle and high school programs, including volunteer recruitment, training, formation, and gaining the endorsement, support, and participation of parents.
Key responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive 6th-12th grade formation model under the direction of the Director of Catholic Life Team.
- Oversee all facets of sacramental preparation for the celebration of Confirmation.
- Oversee all aspects of youth ministry volunteer management, including recruitment, training, formation, and support.
- Incorporate a holistic vision for youth ministry as outlined in the USCCB pastoral document “Renewing the Vision.”
- Foster a safe and welcoming environment where youth feel a strong sense of belonging.
- Provide opportunities for discipleship and peer leadership for youth.
- Develop and manage financial operations based on allocated budget.
- Create, implement, and administer community-building, ministerial, and service opportunities for youth in both the parish and local community.
- Collaborate with the Catholic Life Team in the development and implementation of a faith formation and sacramental preparation process for children, youth, and families in the parish.
Boston College AMDG Program Leadership
- Our parish has recently been invited to participate in an initiative from Boston College entitled the AMDG Program. This position would serve as the local ambassador, leading a group of 25 high school students (10 in the first year cohort and another 15 in the second year). The program features a week-long retreat with the students at Boston College in the summer of 2025, a weekend retreat at a Jesuit retreat house during the academic year, supervising student service projects during the year, and a week walking the Camino in Spain during the summer of 2026. As program ambassador, this person would receive a stipend and earn a certificate from BC for their participation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, or Religious Studies or Bachelor’s Degree in an unrelated field with Youth Ministry Certification, Master Catechist Level Certification, or equivalent.
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic with a history of involvement in parish ministry.
- Must be eager to participate in and incorporate on-going personal spiritual and professional formation. Prior formation in Ignatian Spirituality is a plus.
- Excellent written, spoken, and public presentation communication skills are a must.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
