Position Summary:
Saint Raphael the Archangel Catholic Parish, a vibrant, multicultural, Jesuit parish of about 3,700 families, is seeking a Director of Worship. This person reports to the Pastor and will work closely with liturgical ministry leaders in English and Spanish to plan and schedule liturgical and sacramental celebrations. The Director of Worship will help recruit and train liturgical ministers (including, but not limited to, sacristans, altar servers, lectors, ushers, and Eucharistic ministers) to meet the needs of the parish.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise the Music Director to enhance parish liturgies in our Jesuit tradition.
- Recruit, train, and schedule liturgical ministers.
- Collaborate with clergy, parish and school staff, and volunteer leaders to plan and execute all worship services, including weekend Masses, Holy Days, penance services, baptisms, weddings, funerals, as well as other liturgical and sacramental celebrations.
- Participate in regular staff meetings.
- Facilitate monthly meetings with liturgical ministry leaders.
- Oversee the inventory of liturgical supplies (e.g., hosts, wine, candles, incense, etc.), as well as the maintenance and good condition of all liturgical items.
- Manage the worship environment within the constraints of budget, liturgical season, and parish norms, while integrating cultural elements from the rich diversity of our community.
Minimum Requirements:
- Masters in Divinity degree or equivalent is desired.
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic with experience in parish ministry.
- Dedicated to collaborative ministry and the advancement of the vision of the Church.
- Possess excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills in both written and spoken word.
- Must be eager to participate in and incorporate on-going personal spiritual and educational formation, especially in appreciation of Ignatian Spirituality.
- Must be proficient in or willing to learn Microsoft Office, Planning Center, ParishSOFT, and related software.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.
Hours and Benefits:
- This is a full-time, professional, ministerial position. The typical workweek will be 37.5 hours including some weekends, holidays, and evening work for events. These times include but are not limited to Christmas season, Holy Week / Easter, after Mass functions.
- The person in this position is eligible for the benefits described in the Employee Manual of the Diocese of Raleigh.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferential consideration will be given to those with musical experience and/or proficiency in Spanish.
