Position Summary:
St. Paul Catholic School (Pre-school - Grade 8) in New Bern, NC, is seeking an energetic and dedicated Elementary/Middle School Music Teacher to join our vibrant learning community. - Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective music instruction for elementary students
- Teach foundational music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, music theory, and music appreciation
- Develop students' musical skills through singing, movement, and hands-on activities
- Provide opportunities for instrumental music instruction when possible, with the potential for afterschool programming
- Integrate Catholic values and Gospel teachings into the music curriculum and classroom culture
- Assist in preparing students for school liturgies, concerts, and special performances throughout the year
- Create a positive, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom environment that nurtures each student's musical talents and personal growth
- Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate records
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school administration
- Become an active member of the SPCS Knight Family by attending meetings, school events, activities, and social gatherings that promote fellowship with students, families, colleagues, and the larger Parish community.
- Support the mission and values of Catholic education in daily interactions and teaching practice
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field required.
- Elementary school teaching experience required.
- North Carolina teaching licensure preferred.
- Experience with instrumental music instruction preferred (band, strings, or other instruments).
- Passion for working with young children and fostering their love of music.
- Commitment to Catholic education and the spiritual formation of students.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
