Position Summary:
St. Paul Catholic School in New Bern, NC, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Full-Time Middle School Science Teacher to inspire and educate our middle school students. We are looking for a faith-filled educator who is passionate about science and committed to fostering critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and academic excellence within a Christ-centered learning environment rooted in Catholic values.
- Teach middle school science using effective, standards-based instructional practices.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support student growth, achievement, and scientific principles.
- Plan and deliver engaging STEAM activities as a separate enrichment for grades 2-5.
- Facilitate hands-on learning/laboratory experiences and investigations that promote inquiry-based learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Integrate Catholic values and stewardship of God's creation into the science curriculum
- Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate academic records.
- Foster a classroom culture of respect, responsibility, curiosity, and academic excellence.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school administration regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Support the mission and values of Catholic education in daily interactions and classroom practice
- Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and other professional responsibilities as needed
- Become an active member of the SPCS Knight Family by attending meetings, activities, and social events that promote fellowship with students, families, colleagues, and the larger Parish community
- Maintain a safe and organized environment that supports student learning
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related field required.
- North Carolina science licensure preferred.
- Middle school teaching experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and best practices in science education.
- Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
- Commitment to Catholic education and the spiritual formation of students.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Enthusiasm for working with middle school students.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
