Instructional Teaching Assistant (ITA) - Elementary Grades

Hours per week: 27.5

Position Summary: 

St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School is searching for an Instructional Teaching Assistant (ITA). The ITA will support elementary school grade levels, assisting the lead teacher with instruction and supervision of the classroom, aligning with the school mission and values, and bringing joy to the classroom each day. The individual in this role will Integrate values and attitudes that support school wide core values of reverence, service, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Support classroom teacher’s instruction and integration of 21st Century skills in lessons that support school wide instructional programs and goals
• Exhibit a strong sense of personal accountability and high expectations for student academic achievement, behavioral, and social-emotional development
• Fulfill extra classroom or school-wide student supervisory duties as assigned (i.e. recess duty, lunch duty, etc.) 
• Develop and maintain positive communication and relationships with students and colleagues
• Contribute to a positive Catholic school culture driven by continuous professional growth, improvement, and collegial collaboration
• Supervision duties - such as carpool, recess, and/or lunch duty - as assigned by administration.

Minimum Requirements:

• The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, Elementary Education, or related field
• 2 or more years of relevant experience related to Education/Teaching is preferred
• Ability to lift at least 25-lbs.
• Must be able to stay mobile for long periods of time.
• Must satisfactorily complete required criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training prior to first day.
