Position Summary:

This is a full-time position that reports to the Director of Hispanic Ministry and works with the Hispanic community and the parish at large. It is primarily responsible for organizing and coordinating all groups, ministries, programs and initiatives related to Evangelization and Lay Ministry of the Hispanic Members of STM including both administration and lay formation. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Evangelization and Lay Formation               
    • Develops, implements, and oversees programs and initiatives for the Evangelization, Spiritual Formation and Organizational Skills development of Hispanic lay leaders and parishioners, in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. 
    • Organizes and facilitates workshops, retreats, and training sessions focused on evangelization, Intentional discipleship, McGrath Institute, Leadership, and lay ministry for the Hispanic community.
    • Coordinates all groups, ministries, and programs dedicated to serving the spiritual and formation needs of the Hispanic community at STM Parish.
    • Develops a program of Biblical Literacy: Providing familiarity with the Old and New Testaments through Bible studies and prayerful reflection on Scripture, recognizing the importance of the Scriptures within Hispanic spirituality.
    • Fosters Spirituality and Prayer Life: Nurturing personal and communal prayer, including various forms of prayer relevant to Hispanic cultures, as well as an understanding of the Traditional Cultural Devotions. Programs could include retreats and opportunities for spiritual direction.
    • Serves as both the Formation and Administrative Coordinator for Quinceañeras, ensuring paperwork is in order and scheduling classes. Works closely with the Hispanic Liturgy Coordinator in preparing for the Quinceañera celebration. Organizes and runs a Formation program for Quinceanera girls and their families on preparation for the Liturgy of Quinceanera.
    • Facilitates communication and collaboration between Hispanic Ministries and other parish ministries, fostering a unified, consistent, and inclusive parish environment.
    • Assists the Director of Music and Liturgy and Director of Hispanic Ministry in planning and organizing Bilingual liturgical celebrations, ensuring cultural sensitivity and participation.
    • Supports and empowers lay leaders within the Hispanic community to develop and implement new initiatives.
  • Hispanic Ministry Office
    • Responds to phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries regarding Hispanic ministry groups, ministries, programs and initiatives. 
    • Assists with logistics and organizes hospitality for onsite meetings, classes, and events, as needed. 
    • Assists with supply ordering and billing of all groups, ministries, programs and initiatives of Hispanic Ministries. 
    • Utilizes the REALM data management system to create events and record sacraments. 
    • Assists with bulletin (for sacraments and special events) communications, translations, and communications to families. 
    • Supports the Director of Hispanic Ministry to ensure that all volunteers for the Hispanic Ministry Office are Safe Environment trained and certified, as required. 
  • Sacraments 
    • Works closely with the Associate Director for Marriage and Family Life and Baptism to support gathering all paperwork related to Baptism and Marriage.
    • Coordinates Sacramental Preparation Programs for Parents seeking baptism for their children and Couples on Marriage Prep.
    • Assists the Hispanic Faith Formation Coordinator, as needed with organization of the Catechumenate in Spanish (OCIA).
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities
    • Adheres to parish and diocesan guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safe Environment policies. 
    • Develops and implements -following the guidelines of the Coordinator of Marketing and Digital Evangelization- effective communication strategies to inform Hispanic parishioners about ministry events, programs, and news, utilizing various channels like the parish bulletin, website, social media, and direct communication.
    • Serves as a resource and point of contact for Hispanic parishioners, answering questions and connecting them with appropriate parish resources and support services.
    • Supports and collaborates with the Pastoral Care office and STM SHARES Family Case Manager with outreach and pastoral initiatives to the Hispanic Community. 
    • Maintains accurate records and reports related to Hispanic ministry activities and participation.
    • Provides administrative support for the Director of Hispanic Ministry and other parish staff as needed.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • Proven experience (at least 3 years preferred) in parish pastoral work, particularly with Hispanic communities.
  • A baptized, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, demonstrating a strong commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church. 
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English (written and verbal), demonstrating cultural sensitivity and understanding of the Hispanic community.
  • Thorough understanding of Roman Catholic liturgical theology and practice.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, effectively engaging with staff and volunteers.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with parish management software (Realm or similar).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute both small and large-scale projects.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends, as required for ministry activities.
  • Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.

 

Working Conditions

This is a non-sedentary position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, see, and hear and listen. The employee is regularly required to use his/her hands to operate office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to perform other administrative assistance duties in the parish office, as may be requested or needed. The employee must be available to meet with representatives of other organizations in other locations, which may involve local travel.

 

Physical Requirements

The employee regularly performs light work to lift, transport, and/or carry materials such as learning supplies and books. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
