Faith Formation Assistant

Hours per week: 17 (including Sunday)

Position Summary:

St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Garner, NC is seeking a Faith Formation Assistant. The Faith Formation assistant works with the Elementary and Youth Coordinators and the Pastor to maintain records of student participation in programs (for both adults and children). The assistant maintains the parish’s sacramental records and the parish’s compliance and reporting for the diocesan Safe Environment program.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide administrative support and assistance to the Faith Formation Coordinators, including managing student  and volunteer files.
• Manage confidential records: birth, sacrament, and sponsor certificates; Safe Environment program participation; fee payments.
• Send sacrament files to the diocese and notifications to baptismal parishes.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum level of Education: Associate degree.

• Two years of professional work experience.
• Proficiency in both Spanish and English (oral and written).
• Strong administration and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with parish membership software a plus. 
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks. 
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to print legibly in sacramental record books
