Elementary Faith Formation Coordinator

Hours per week: 35 (including evenings and weekends)

Position Summary:

The Elementary Faith Formation Coordinator implements catechetical programs for children ages K through Grade 8. In addition to preparing children to receive the Sacraments of first Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, the coordinator provides continuing catechesis for children who have completed these sacraments.

Key responsibilities: 

• Prepare students to make First Reconciliation and receive First Communion in the first and second year of Communion preparation.
• With the Youth Coordinator, prepare youth ages 7 to 17 to be baptized.
• Provide a program for third to sixth graders.
• Provide a program for seventh and eighth graders.
• Recruit and support catechists and volunteers.
• Maintain accurate records of program participation.
• Ensure compliance with diocesan policies and guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum level of Education: Associate degree.  
• At least two years of experience in catechetical ministry or religious education
• Area(s) of related work experience: volunteer leadership experience
• Proficiency in both Spanish and English (oral and written).
• Strong administration, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and parish membership software. 
• Commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church. The qualified applicant must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks. 
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in theology or Religious Studies
