Art Teacher

Hours per week: 40 Hours

Position Summary:

StMM seeks a passionate, creative, and faith-filled Art Educator to teach students in PK4 through 8th grade. The ideal candidate will foster artistic expression, build foundational skills across a variety of media, and integrate Catholic values into the visual arts curriculum. This educator will cultivate an environment where all students feel inspired, respected, and confident in their creative abilities.

Key responsibilities: 

• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art lessons for PK4– Grade 8 students
• Teach a range of artistic techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and art history
• Integrate Catholic identity and values into lessons and projects
• Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring art classroom
• Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support interdisciplinary learning
• Display student artwork throughout the school and coordinate art showcases/events
• Support school events, liturgies, and community-building activities
• Maintain clear and timely communication with parents and school staff

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field. 
• 3+ years of related work experience is preferred.
• Teaching license or ability to obtain licensure in North Carolina.
• Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students (preferred).
• Knowledge of a variety of art techniques and mediums.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
